potter maddness, part II

this harry potter business doesnt stop. the past several days have been nothing but unpacking convoys of boxes and watching them sell within hours. sales are through the roof and apparently we will all get bonuses...i am certainly not complaining, i am always happy to get an extra 100 quid or whatever the amount will be!
yesterday we sold out too early on in the day, and i spent my whole shift telling the bad news to endless queues of kids, many of whom burst into tears, it was a dreadful scene. this is the first time i have ever thought of my job as remotely...cool? kids have run up and asked for my autograph, one little girl, who looked to be about 7, got it in her head that i not only look like, but actually WAS hermione, and insisted i sign her book. i found it a bit odd to be mistaken for a fictional 17 years old witch, but of course i signed the thing. tomarrow tonight i am doing another "anti social hours" night shift since the whole shop is a bit or a mess thanks to the huge crowds.
yesterday, apparently one of the managers of a nearby branch had some sort of potter-induced nervous breakdown and couldnt work anymore, after doing several double shifts in a row, so some people from my branch had to go cover.....amazing stuff, and all over a book! (which i might add i am now halfway through, and enjoying very much!)

@marcus, it is not so funny! i am going to develop a complex!
@masyamba: send me an email in 2 days (by which time i will have finished myself) saying why you didnt like it, i am on page 400 and so far i am addicted.

yes there are floods in london, but the worst parts are the area around the city. the government is afraid the flood barriers that keep the river under control are in danger of breaking, and the damages are already super high. several people have died....there has not been one day without rain since may, and there have been several days of torrential rain...pretty miserable actually

it rains over here as well. but see, i think it is still better than +40 in Lviv and no running water in the center (some things never change)

i can tell you now, why i did not like the book: it lacks coherence and many things resemble 'deus ex machina' principle emplyed a lot in the reneissance comedia del'arte...

but i read it very fast nonetheless. finished it yesterday night, well morning, by 4 am :)

it is a CHILDRENS book masyamba, you are analysing it too much!!!!
i wish it were 40 degrees here, we have really had no summer at all, it is so miserable to have to walk around in a sweater and jacket in JULY

Anonyme a dit…

do you want to say, that childrens book does not need to have any logic in the plot?

:)

naneh a dit…

but there was a plot! the horcruxes!
it is just that i dont think it needs so much analyses or comparisons with other genres...

Anonyme a dit…

i am not saying there is no plot. I say, there are gaps in it...
and it does not take a lot of analysis to fugire it out ... really. i just read it. very fast, i must admit
